had an outbreak of bryopsis in my first tank I had almost 10 years ago. now I'm on my second tank and looks like I'm dealing with this once again.

has bryopsis been around since the beginning of time when it comes to reef tanks? I feel it just started popping up in the hobby about 10 years ago, or thereabouts.

I am currently going through a cyano outbreak. Between that, and the bryopsis, my tank is looking horrible. All the cyano is sticking to the bryopsis and it is covering everything.
Before I start the flunco treatment, let me ask this. Can this be done even though I am having this cyano outbreak? Should I wait for that to disappear?

Can't speak on cyano, havent had problems with it. I just want to tell you to be careful with fluconazole, id do 1/4 or less of the "recommended dose" when I used fluc, doing a full dose did kill the bryopsis but also upset all my coral and bringing out a gha outbreak. @exnisstech had a similar experience, much more extreme though. I'll try to find the videos and threads to link here, but it seems like people get the same results with much less side effects doing microdosing.

I had bad bryopsis too. Pulled as much as i could manually and dosed reef flux at 1/2 recommended dosage for 3 days then added the other half. It worked great for me, acros and montis were a little beef'd and the nems didnt appreciate it, but everything recovered just fine and no losses.

I did a Fluconozole treatment a year ago and also had some coral fatalities with full doses. Now a year later I have some Byprosis coming back. For now I am spot treating with Hydrogen Peroxide and crossing my fingers I can keep it from spreading. I also just changed my UV bulb; it was 14 months old and again, hoping for the best.
