I recently upgraded my NWB 150 with the Bubble Blaster 2000 pump.
The skimmer will not keep a consistent bubble level and is constantly overflowing.
The skimmer only keeps proper level after several minutes (10-15), if I shut the pump off and back on the skimmer completely overflows.
At first I assumed it was the silencer and removed the cap to allow more airflow, this worked for a day. The next day I did a water change and shut the pump off, after restart again the shimmer overflowed.
The next day I came home to find the skimmer overflowing again, I noticed that the pump intake was close to the wall of the sump, I assumed this was causing the overflow issue so I moved the skimmer. Again the skimmer ran correctly.
Again, I come home and guess what, the skimmer is overflowing!!! I turned the valve wide open then back to normal position and problem solved.
Later that night, I fed the tank with unwashed Mysis shrimp and AGAIN the skimmer overflowed, this time I blame the oily food, so I shut the skimmer off for a few hours and BINGO skimmer is back to normal.
Today 3/17/13, I shut off all the pumps on my system to take some photos, after a few hours I turned the pump back on......SURPRISE SURPRISE, you guessed it, overflowing skimmer has returned!!!
I paid $220 to upgrade my skimmer and then I have to pay $28 to have Coralvue ship me the adapter union to connect the BB 2000 to my NWB skimmer Body.
Original purchase of the NWB 150 $199.99, $220 BB 2000, and $28 union (should have been included with the pump in the first place or be offered by retailers in a package!)
Basically I have a $450 paper weight.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong before my sensible side looses grip and I smash this skimmer to pieces and buy another brand.
My sump level is kept at 9"s by way of an ATO.
