many online suppliers sell Nems that are fresh cut and not strong enough to with stand the snuggles of a clown. However, if they have proper light and food they should recover and be able to host a clown within a month. Keep the Nems in the frag tank with good light and feed ground shrimp (ground shrimp takes less energy to digest then whole) 1x per week for a month.
Sorry, meant 1 time per week for feeding, not one shrimp per Nem. I have 20+ large Nems and 2 ground shrimp feeds them all. I feed wild caught gulf shrimp not import. Fresh, head on when I can get it. I remove the shells but don't clean.many online suppliers sell Nems that are fresh cut and not strong enough to with stand the snuggles of a clown. The size of clown to Nem is good so you should not be having an issue due to the clown being too rough. The lack of tentacle extension is chemistry, temp or light issue. I had a Sherman that would spin its tentacle until they broke off then would grow them back. This went on for two years before the Nem died. A clone of this Nem never did this and is still happy and healthy. I have no idea what the cause. I've had Nems for twenty years and they still amaze me.Thanks Murphy, that's what I'm doing except I'm using local Atlantic shrimp. This is a what my Clarkii's have done to a bta that was put in on 2-17-16. I have 4 more in my hospital bucket. I introduced a carpet this week to see if that might be a tougher host.
That is the male of the pair in the picture. She is 4" easy and mean!
