One more thing I wanted to add was that I had to get another 300w heater for the tank as the 1 heater was not able to keep up with the added water volume. And now that we are getting in the colder months, I was seeing the tank get below 77 degrees, which I know some will say its fine. But like my tank above to be around 77-78, and having the 1 300w heater running for 7-8 hrs was not happening either.

Great thread! You've got 140g between the two tanks, and how big is your sump?

Thanks

Sump is a Bashsea smart series and it hold about 25-30g of water. I know its on the small side, but it's working out great.

It’s all about what you’ve got in the sump more than the size, I think.

Did you find that frag tank on Marketplace? I haven’t seen anything that shallow on there ever.

I found it on FB market place for a steal. The person I bought it from was going to start his own propagation system, but had to move at the last minute, so he was selling them for $50 tank and stand. I'd say after wrapping the stand and getting new piping the while project cost me about $250. That's not including the lights and ecotech light rail.

I agree on the sump side of things. The only upgrades I am considering are to go with a CaRx and get a bigger skimmer once my bio load gets bigger. Right now I am dosing only 30ml of both Alk, and Cal. And hand dose mag when needed.

The tank is a ZooMed Low Boy, and your LFS should be able to get them.

WOW what an amazing coral tank. From a quick search looks like you can get them for $102.99 at some local stores. I would have guessed them to be way more expensive. Thanks for the information. Some info from reefbuilders on the tank.

When I do finally build out a frag tank, I'll probably just pick up a hydroponic tray like this:

It won't be for display, and will be dead-simple to drill for overflows and whatnot.

I've found some great deals on FB, but that tank deal was amazing.

If you can get it at that price, then jump on it.

Main thing to check are the seals as some have mentioned that depending on who seals the tank, might get lazy and not do a great job at doing so.

Hydro trays work really great as well and you don't have to worry about seals busting. And they are super easy to clean up as well.

I posted some updates on another thread, but I'll post here as well.

I was having a bit of an Aiptasia problem in my main display tank had tried different ways to try an combat them. From Kalkpaste, to boiling RODI water, to lemon juice, and they all looked like it took care of them, but several days later they came back out giving me the finger. So in some other threads I heard of some reefers using F-Aiptasia and swore it worked better than Aiptasia-X, and all of the other remedies including the ones I tried. So I ordered me a bottle to give it a shot as I really didnt want to remove the rock and scrape/dry out.

Bottle for reference. Comes with syringe and 2 different tips (straight, and curved) for you to use. Wooden stirrer to stir up the contents in the bottle as it might be a clump of paste when it arrives.

And here it is after applying F-Aiptasia. Shut off all of your flow before applying.
Once you apply it, it hardens up after 25-30 minutes. I waited about 45-50 minutes before I turned all the flow back on.

One thing that happened to me was 1 of my power heads points directly to a spot I covered up, and as soon I I turned my WAV pumps back on, it destroyed hard casing in that one spot. The rest of the solution held strong.

And these pictures are from today. All of the ones I covered have not come back. I'll be hitting the tank again this weekend to all the other ones I find. Just make sure that if the solutions falls on your corals, blow it off ASAP.

I would recommend this product in case you are dealing with Aiptasia issues.

I want to give an update on a change I will be doing in the next week or so and that will be I am going to switch from 2 part dosing, to a calcium reactor. The misses got for me an early Christmas present of a Geo's 612x2 Reactor, Kamoer FX-STP pump, Carbondoser regulator.

Hopefully moving from 2 part over to the reactor will be a swift, and easy transition.

And she arrived!!!

Got it all setup circulating water to get all the air bubbles out of the chambers. Tomorrow I'll test Alk to see where it's at and adjust if needed. Also calibrate the ph probe and hook it up just to monitor ph. Will not be using it to cut off c02
