Took advantage of the "snow day" to get everything almost up and fully running. LR and substrate added, skimmer running, refugium has sand and rubble, water level a bit low so there's lots of air bubbles and the DC return pump is set pretty low. Now just get to wait and set up the ATO. Here's a peek:

Water's actually pretty clear, just bubbles from the return pump since the water level is a bit low in the sump. This skimmer with the Aquatrance pump isn't too shabby either...

Interesting tidbit. The rocks I treated have zero diatoms growing on them. The small piece I got from AM to seed the bacteria is covered. The treatment clearly removed the surface phosphates...

Dave I have a half bag of Indo Black you can have.
Sorry, never responded. If you're not going to use it I'll take it. I should be at AM around 2:00 but don't make a special trip on my behalf. There will be other opportunities later. Thanks!

I have since added some coral and fish to the tank. These girls are a bit skiddish so the pictures is taken from about 10 feet back but they're at least eating (not as aggressively as I'd like) and out in the open:

Thanks to Mr. Sease I've added my first SPS today as well and am working on a Bali deepwater acro order as well for a couple of weeks out.

Rob, You're too quick on the draw. I had to remove some of the washout from the flash but you beat me to it LOL.

Today I added the following
Small yellow tang Hawaii: never cared much for this fish until spending time in Hawaii snorkeling and diving
Melanurus wrasse: best disposition for a wrasse who will attack flatworms, bad nudis and other pests
Royal flasher wrasse: never had one but always admired them
McCoskers flasher wrasse: the ideal inexpensive reef fish
African blue pipefish: great fish that is fairly hardy

Lost one of the anthias due to bullying by the dominant female :-(

Dave, I thought a melanuras wrasse would be aggressive towards flashers???

I've not had a problem in the past but each fish is an individual. Add the melanarus last or simultaneously with the others.

I'm assuming the lights are anchored in the ceiling. Care to post a pic? I'd like to see what it looks like.
