Hello reefers! We are a young family from Australia and complete noob to fish keeping. We decided when we built our dream house that we wanted to have an aquarium in the house.

Hubby has in his head that this can be totally automated. We engaged a custom builder and quickly learnt that salt water tanks were not for the faint hearted but the more we looked into it, the more interested we became.

Fish tank is 2.4 meters long x 750mm tall x 560mm deep.
Lighting-We have 3 coral care gen 2 lined up for installation.

Please follow this thread and also my instagram @reef2home as we embark on this journey.

Beautiful setup ….
265 gallons is a decent size for a first aquarium .
following to see it progress .
Have you considered starting a build thread on here to document and share your journey as it matures .?

thanks for the advise. Sorry to be a noob but what filter do you mean? There is an adjacent closet but not a room next to the tank.
Nothing to be sorry for.

the filter is the tank below your main display aquarium, It houses your “filtration”. Protein skimmer, pumps, heaters, top off, any media you choose to run, the list goes on….

if you have a closet next to the tank and can locate the filter in there it will be much easier than trying to get under the tank all the time. A big enough closet is also a nice place to store RODI unit and water for water changes.

Working on your hands and knees under a 225 gallon tank will get old quick
