Bulk DI resin

Has anyone found somewhere other than BRS that sells separate cat and an ion resins. Surely there is somewhere to buy larger quantities of an ion color changing resin for less money. I can find plenty of mixed bed options but I run separate resins and only get about 150 gallons out of a canister of an ion.

I’ve been having the same issue with brs resin .
Change the resin and I’m lucky if I get 50 gals of new water before it’s completely exhausted .

Do you possibly have a solution to this? Or have you found a bulk anion resin somewhere? I go through a canister every 50 gallons on well water after degassing. It’s brutal.

Why not recharge if you are running separate beds?

it is takes some time but will save you money if you are okay dealing with acid and caustic soda.

Pretty easy to charge if you got chem gloves a outdoor table and a few buckets and WEAR PROPER PPE MOST IMPORTANTLY.


It'll save you a lot of money.

I had the same issue. I built a degassing tube that is about 7 feet tall that sits in a 50 gallon drum that I drilled a hole in to fit the 4” pvc into. I have everything wired to automatically shut off when my 50 gallon drum is full of RO DI water.
How it works-
As the RODI water goes down in the 50 gallon drum the paddle float switch drops this opens the feed water solonoid to the ro, turns on the air pump and a small circulation pump.
The raw water first goes through a carbon filter, then to the ro membrane and is sent into the top of the 7’ riser pipe that is capped on the bottom.
There is an air stone at the bottom of this 4” pvc tube that is hooked to the air pump. When the water level gets about 5 feet up the pvc pipe it drains into a 4x2 wye fitting with a small pump hooked below it. ( Because the water no longer is pressurized when it comes out). I use the pump to push the water through the DI resin cartridges and a silica buster cartridge. After it leaves the silica cartridge it gravity drains into the drum around the sealed pvc pipe and as it fills, it brings the paddle float switch up and shuts off the water, air pump and circulation pump.

A little history-
My DI resin was only lasting about a month or so before I did this. Now it’s been about 9 months between resin changes.
I also did anion, cation and mixed bed in separate 10” cartridges to see which resin I was exhausting prematurely.
Then doubled up on that resin and took out the mixed bed and installed a silica buster In its place.
*My water also goes through a softener before the RO.

I can take some photos if anyone is interested in seeing it or has any questions feel free to ask. i spent a lot of time designing, tinkering and dialing this in over a year ago and it works pretty dang good.

I’m not trying to get my name on some government watch list for buying chemicals every couple months. Plus I have no way to dispose of the used chemicals.

this is my concern. i would rather not play around with chemicals that can severely hurt myself or others. and disposing of it seems kinda sketch.
