Burn hole in prime 16HD reef light?

Is there something wrong with my prime 16HD light? In the middle of the light as shown in the picture, there is a burnt hole through it and drooping glass bulbs. The fan sometimes get really loud i’ve tried cleaning the internal fans every month or so with a Q-tip and a compressed air bottle. What should I do?

I wouldn't say its a COMMON issue with these, but it is an issue. What level have you been running these at and for how long?

Your light melted the protector screen thing (whatever the heck it's called). One of the reasons I moved away from that same light. I kept seeing about it melting. If you were running 100% UV for more than I think it's like 8 hours, it'll eventually melt - just like what you see. There's no way to fix that I don't think. I don't think I've ever seen a replacement cap for that.

edit; use the search feature in the top right hand corner and search 'ai prime 16hd melt' and a lot of threads will pop up unfortunately

I love Primes but the reality is you can't run that UV channel above 80%.

I don't have the same issue with any other channel, I run the blue channel at 125% no melting.

AI offers replacement lenses (and also replacement fans on the same website)

There is actually another company who makes AI Prime lenses that do not degrade due to UV, but I believe they do not offer it for the newer version (with screws through the lens like yours)
I am waiting for one for my own AI Prime 16HD!!

Correct @luxdium doesn't have one for the 16hd yet.

Yes, they get too hot. The lenses on mine melted away.

YES they do melt ...I have 3 prime 16HD and all have melted, and I don't run them at 100% ...Just use them ... mine have been melted long time and still using
