Alright team, I do not dose calcium....

I have a tank full of softies....

I'm hoping my chemicals are trash? But I just tested at 640 twice? 😬

Oh, and 12 for alkalinity. No, my hands don't burn when they go into the water.

No, I'm not topping with saltwater (ato with rodi). Speaking of, sitting at 1.025ppm there, checked that as well.

I don't have a magnesium kit, but my send offs consistently show it around 1280-1350 range.

Nothing is running on a doser lately. I was going to set up afr, but absolutely not with calcium and alk where they're showing.

But genuinely, how?!

Have you tested a fresh batch of sw? Only things I can think of to get alk and ca that high without dosing is either bad sw batch or bad testing reagents. I can't think of any salt that mixes that high.

I am a horrible person and I have not done a water change on this tank in 6-8 months....

Maybe test your topoff water?

6-8 months?! Don’t tempt me!
Not a bad idea. I'll do that in a bit and report back.

Also : replaced both roller rolls and all carbon in the peninsula today. Cleaned the skimmer. Emptied out about half the fuge algae. Refilled the plank. Cleaned the glass.

What test kits are you using ? exp date ?

Only not expired was api so no, not the best. Calcium expires in Dec this year, alk in Feb next year.

I've hit alk at 12+ mixing Reef Crystals and tap water. My tap tested at 8... 😬

All my pathology stuff came in from my biopsies - everything says negative 🤷‍♀️ Follow-up is next Wednesday for all that.

Anyway, day off. Time to do some tank stuff and give the dog a bath...

Going to finally load up the AFR in the peninsula and potentially start researching different light options for when I don't win this one because we alllll know who will (ahem @tbrown ) 🤣
I didn't/don't have money for the Partner Drive currently so I'm out on this one. Even if I had joined up I wouldn't be entering this. No need for another light. Good luck!

You'll still win somehow, I'm confident 😉

But thanks, would be an easy solution I think

Have you tested RODI ?
Gonna do that shortly. Needed to shower and get the sticky salt off my arms from everything else and before the storm gets worse lol

That doesn't count. Our tap water can hit 12 all by itself. Reef Crystals is the highest off the shelf mix I know of but with RODI shouldn't get to 12.
