I'm having trouble calibrating a GHL Doser 2.2 Maxi to be used for a continuous auto water change system. Given my system volume, 1% change a day requires 1.97mL/min dosing rate, which I understand to be within the operational spec for the doser. I was following the instructions here, and ran the first calibration at speed 3, which gave me a rate of 310mL/min. After updating, the minimum desired speed I could set was 100.2mL/min. So I set the pump to speed 0, and reran the calibration. However, it dispensed 265mL. It didn't sound or appear any noticeably slower while running the calibration either. After that calibration, the minimum speed was 4.1mL/min, which is still too fast. I know I could run the pumps for ~11.5 hours at that speed, but I'd prefer to figure out why speed 0 is dosing so much during the calibration run.

Thanks!

You need to put the desired amount after calibrating at 0. If its giving you ~100ml at speed 0, just below where you put the dispensed amount, theres a line where you put how much you actually want to dose and that will change the rotating speed at 0, giving you the ml/min you desire.

It appears that it won't let me put in anything lower than 4.1 after the calibration:

Save is grayed out and I can't select it.

Put the speed at max and save, then put the speed at 0 and calibrate again.

265ml at 0 I believe its wrong.
It's gotta be wrong. Your most recent suggestion seems to have worked. But my graduated cylinder starts measuring at 50mL so I will need to find something else that starts measuring sooner. Eyeballing, it looks like 40mL but I'll run it again when I can accurately measure.

Now change the desired flow to change the rotation speed.

Yup, I'm able to set it to 2mL/min. Still pretty loud at the slow speed. More noise than I'd want continuously in my living room. Might have to set it up for periodic larger doses or something. Or splurge for the Maxi 3 upgrade if its really that much quieter.

It Is. There is a video in this thread.

I do not run my continuously though I just run a fixed amount every 30 minutes on speed 2

Been putting off setting this up, but until I pull the trigger on the new PCB I plan to just run a fixed amount hourly per @KStatefan's advice. But now I can't seem to get speed 2 or 3 calibrated correctly. On speed 3, it's topping out at 255mL when I run the calibration.

What is topping out at 255 ml?

When I set the pump to speed 3 and run a calibration, the volume dispensed is consistently at 250-255ml. Prior to following the instructions that got speed 0 calibrated properly, I could have sworn that speed 3 was aligned with the published 320ml spec. I purchased the unit secondhand, is a maximum of 255ml feasible sound reasonable for a used unit?

If that is the number your are getting use that. I do not run any of mine on speed three so do not know.

Thanks. I had planned to run at a lower speed, but in order to keep each event duration down I won't be able to unless it starts calibrating like it had been when I first started. I guess having it run at all is better than fighting with the calibration and never actually finishing setup though.

What are you fighting on calibration?

Set the speed you want
Calibrate measure the volume dosed in one minute
Enter that number then save.

Just the maximum volume at speed 3. First couple times I calibrated it, the result was 310 ml/min, but now I can't get it to calibrate above 255mL/min. I was having the opposite problem when trying to calibrate the speed 0 earlier. I couldn't get speed 0 "slow" enough for my targeted continuous AWC at ~2mL/min. Following @Gungo's steps, I was finally able to, but now it seems that I can't "reset" things back to the 310mL/min.

It only makes a difference insofar that if speed 3 tops out at 310-320 mL/min, then I can probably use speed 2 (or speed 1 if I want more WC change events throughout the day) for my settings.

As you said, I can just accept the 255mL/min at speed 3 and set up the pump appropriately. This is more my OCD and desire to get to the bottom of this and troubleshoot the technical issues (my brain needs answers/resolutions) more than an impediment to setting up the AWC.

@KStatefan New question. Do you spread your half hour doses across a full 24-hour window? Is there a way to use the automatic dose schedule but spread it out over a smaller window? I wanted to have some quiet hours from like 11 pm to 7 am.

I spread it out every 30 minutes 24 hours per day.

You can set it up not to dose at night using the programing language set the dosing pump to use a switch channel then set up that switch to use a programing function that combines a timer and a dosing function to allow dosing only when the timer is on.
