I downloaded the model from thingiverse for cups. Just haven't freed up the printer for the amount of time it will take.

Plus, my sump that's on the way has a floss box that's swappable for socks.

I have to tell you, that buying a 3d printer has opened up new worlds of DIY for me. And for under $300 including a bunch of different filaments, it's well worth it.
Dantimdad what’s the name of the build in thingiverse? I was looking for one just the other day and was about to build my own CAD drawing of one since I couldn’t find any!!!

Hey DIY guys I have been tossing around an idea for an improved glass scrapper for large tanks
Basically I want to take a large magnet scraper and mount a large squeegee to it so I can wipe the glass of a large tank in as few passes as possible
The issues I am coming against
1) what materials? It has to be rigid enough to clean but not scratch my glass none toxic and not fall apart in salt water
2) How do I mount it ? Screws would rust so I guess with glue? I’d prefer to make some type of Avril iv mount I can glue to the mag and clip the squeegee on and off / replace as a big mag float is $80

many ideas? A 12”squeegee would clean my glass in 2 passes

what if I found strong magnets and put them in a long line wrapped in felt and they connect at the top so that it is a big u clip from the top of the glass that just wipes the glass from top to bottom? Can’t come off cuz it’s one giant strip that bends over the glass in the middle but has a spine of acrylic so it dosnt bend when I pass it across the tank?
Like this forgive me drawn in a moving car lol

Years ago one of our local club members designed, manufactured and sold a product he called "Reef Gadget". It was simple and elegant and made with a piece of acrylic that was bent, and an off-the-shelf scraper was attached with nylon bolts. You'd use superglue and glue this to your MAG Float. It came with a plastic razor blade and metal one....single edge standard blade. Here's a picture of the one I have:

Now this one is no longer being made, but there is one that's very similar that is now being sold.

You can use a similar design, but with a wider blade portion.

I make my own sump on a 30g tank including the filter sock holder and also a gravity ATO.

Nice, I DIY my sumps too. Great way to save money. Not that it won't work but your bubble trap should be last, right before the return section. Having multiple just takes up unnecessary space, IMO.

Yep, I found that a couple of days after I made the sump. I'm going to upgrade my tank soon so I will probably use the 40g breeder DT and make my new sump.

how did you cut the acrylic? with the miter saw? how about the round cuts?
Yes, I cut it with the miter saw perfectly and then trimmed the corners with the saw then round it with a sand paper.
