Hii!!

So my fiancé and I have a 24 gallon aquatop AIO tank; mixed reef. Currently, it is stocked with a longfin clownfish as well as a yellow watchman goby and pistol shrimp. (CUC as well). We wanted to add more fish to the tank possibly, but want to do our research and consult with the fish community before doing so. We’re currently looking at the royal gramma, blennies, and wrasses as potential options. What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance!

A long time ago when someone else asked a stocking question I suggested something like “Gentlemen prefer Hanes.” When they get a run in one leg you can often use the other one for a carbon or GFO media bag. It helps save the planet!

But seriously folks, a clownfish can get pretty comfortable alone in a 24 gallon tank especially when they get older and start to be more territorial.

I don’t have a recommendation other than the fewer fish that you add the happier the ones that you have will be together. If you do add more, take the recommendations of possible friends for the Clownfish and the goby and add one more of them, and avoid over crowding the community. It’s a difficult challenge but your fish will thank you.

Any chance of getting a larger tank before getting more fish?

Honestly, I’m not in a rush to add more fish but we were talking about it as a potential option. I am looking to get a 55 or 65 gallon AIO tank soon thankfully, as we are quickly outgrowing this one!

Royal Gramma gets my vote. I had one with two clowns in a 20 for a long while and they are great fish with bright coloration.

I have a 25g Waterbox tank, and I have a super similar stock with a clown pair, yellow watchman and pistol shrimp pair, and a royal gramma. I can definitely say I’ve had them all for quite some time with no bio load issues.

Ya , I think a second clown and a royal gramma would be fine. Other options to the gramma are a pink streaked wrasse or tailspot Blennys.

I'm rather partial to clown gobies. They fit in nicely in smaller tanks and have a bit of a personality. My wife likes yellow clown gobies....named ours Lemon Drop, but a green would be nice as well.

Cardinal Fish such as Banggai and Pajama would make a great additions.

I have a 25g Waterbox tank, and I have a super similar stock with a clown pair, yellow watchman and pistol shrimp pair, and a royal gramma. I can definitely say I’ve had them all for quite some time with no bio load issues.

Can I ask you what your zoas are growing on your lil frag display

I honestly don’t remember the exact type, that might be a question for an expert, I think the blue/orange/green zoa is some variation of the rasta zoa but like I said not sure about the others.

Get a dartfish! Good mid water column swimmers and very peaceful.
