tricky without tank lighting but looks like eith lobophyllia or wilsoni but leaning towards wilsoni

Stripes on flesh like a trachy, they got got lumped in as a trachy. So, which one could be wilsoni. Never seen a lobo with those kinds of stripes.

Could be symphyllia as well.

Yep, Id bet its a trachy based on the flesh that remains. Skeleton structure looks a bit more Wilsoni like.

Wellsophyllia Is what I was thinking of. Not symphyillia wilsoni.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous 2 differently shaped coral are put in the same name. Maybe it's just me.

It's probably because of genetic/skeletal analysis that wellsophyllias got synonymized with trachyphyllias. It's probably the same reason why pachyseptas got reclassified as acans.

You have several species in the acan family.
Rotundoflora
Enchinata
Pachyseptas being one of the newer species.

Now trachyphyllia? It's all "Trachyphyllia geoffroyi"

It's probably not enough genetic difference between the 2 type specimens.

WoRMS has an up to date database with all accepted coral species, genera, and families, and their previous combinations and synonyms.
