I’ve done some serious research, asked a ton of questions, received a ton of info from you guys, and have decided to attack this Velvet hard and fast. Pulling all fish for bare bottom QT tank and treating with copper. Can’t get CP. main concern is my banded goby which is, as we all know, a sand softer. He’s not gonna appreciate the bare bottom. Any suggestions? How bad would it be to put in some crushed coral substrate. I know it absorbs carbon and I’ll have to test constantly.

You can add a corner of sand I do that for wrasses in QT. It will absorb some copper but you should be able to stay on top of it with daily testing. The one suggestion I have is to stir the sand daily to make sure parasites don’t find a pocket they can survive in.

That sounds like a good plan. Thanks.

Consider placing a tupperware dish with sand that is large enough for the fish to enter and get busy in. Change the sand out about once a week to avoid problems with water quality.

Same for the watchman.
