Can I feed this sponge to my angel?

Can I feed this stuff to my watanabe angel in my 90g by including it in the frozen fish food mix i make with a food processor? If so, do I need to rinse it or clean it somehow before adding it?

I'm not sure that I would. I can't speak for that specific sponge, but I know some sponges are toxic. I had a similarly colored one that killed an Acro, a Blasto, and some Micromussas. That could have just been coral warfare and it might be nontoxic to angels but persu, I wouldn't risk it.

I would think if she wasnt interested in it she wouldnt eat it. I had a weird sponge growing in my tank and I moved it over to the tank with an angel and he wouldnt eat it

I know for years we've all been told that angels need sponge in their diet, I'm not so sure that's entirely true. It is my opinion the foods we typically feed nowadays fulfil the nutritional requirements of angels. The spirulina that's gut loaded into brine shrimp and nori in particular.

I've had a Rock beauty angel for a year now, it's a fish that almost all of the experts say not to buy because of their specialized diet, the sponges. I don't offer mine anything special and he's a healthy, fat, thriving fish. He absolutely will not pick at the sponges that grow on the undersides of the LR in my tank, which is the reason I came up with my hypothesis about modern marine fish foods.

The right kind of marine sponge is hard to grow, there is so little of it in cultivation. I guess to start you'd have to find out where your fish was collected and then research what kind of sponges grow in that area. If you find an easy avenue for that info let us know lol.
