Hey guys. I would like to relocate this coral to another spot to free up the top part for more sps. Problem is its attached to the rock. If I pull it out by force, will it survive? Love this piece and wouldn't wanna kill it

Can you move the rock? Or at least take the rock out and chip off (screw driver and hammer are your friend) the top section it's attached to? It would be far better to not injure it if you can avoid it.

I took a razor and cut mine as close to the rockwork as possible and then moved it to it's own island. Couple months later I noticed something growing on the original rock, turned out to be two new toadstools growing from residual tissue I never scraped off. After you move it , I'd cover any leftover tissue on the rock with epoxy if you don't want it to grow back. Also recommend doing it with a water change and have some carbon ready to soak up any toxins it may release so you don't anger your SPS.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
