I got my yellow eye kole tang as a juvenile 5 years ago. Today I noticed that its tail seems to be developing tiny streamers? Maybe?? The tail fin seems more drawn out at the top and bottom edges than it used to be. Do kole tangs even do that? What do you think- am I just imagining things? Please forgive the dirty glass and floating food particulates!

Okay, I'll "forgive" the signs of a healthy tank and good reef keeper.

Own it! :)

But seriously so many newbs get taken in by the squeeky-clean, photochopped images of reef tanks that get posted so often. Real photos of real, healthy tanks are almost always in short supply. No shame!

You're too kind! I'd say I'm only an average reef keeper, but my very first saltwater tank was a 120gal and I've been in the hobby now for around 6ish years without quitting yet! So maybe I'm just stubborn! 🤣

Still wondering if kole tangs develop streamers as they mature! Google is kind of inconclusive on the topic. Anybody else seen this before?

I can’t help either but striking fish! And they say Koles are bland….
