Having an issue with a gem tang that I’ve had for four years or so. He’s having some discoloration has shown in the photos below. In addition to the discoloration he’s scratching on the bottom as well. One qt’ed fish has been added so I would be surprised if he was the cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Could this be an injury from the rocks or flukes? There’s a purple tang that’s been in there for just as long as well. He’s not showing any signs of aggression or disease.

White streaks on bottom may be scratch marks or bacterial which better pics should reveal

I can verify I don’t see any spots or the like. He’s eating really well and staying active around the tank.

While these fish do display stress sports, I don’t see the typical spots they would fisplay
If scratching as described, a video under bright light may be best
Is fish breathing normal or labored?
Additionally, is appetite good?

Fish is breathing normally as far as I can tell. Still eats very well. Ya, it was scratching on the bottom quite a bit. I don’t see any spots.

Are the discolored patches only on the fish’s right side, or are there some on the left?

I’m suspecting flukes here - not all fish species are affected by flukes to the same degree. What was the new fish added and how long ago?

Here is a post about treating flukes if it comes to that:

The new fish was added a week ago and yes spots on both sides. I have prazipro on order so I’ll be administering that when it comes. Interesting that it was fine and then the next day looks like this. Thank you for the article.

Unfortunately, the gem tang has passed on. Now my regal angelfish is scratching so I’m guessing he has the same thing. Purple tang and clown seem fine so far. I won’t get the prazi until tomorrow from amazon.

I’m surprised the gem died, it didn’t look that sick in the photos. Can you get a clear video of the regal?

Unfortunately, he’s pretty small and moves really quickly. Like I said above he’s exhibiting the same symptoms as the gem did. I dosed prazi about 15 mins ago so we will see if that helps.
I couldn’t believe the gem tang died either. Had him for 4 years or so. He looked pretty bad though the pics must have not picked that up.

Now the regal angel has passed. Which is weird because yesterday evening he was eating like a pig. Not sure what the heck is going on. This is by far the nastiest bug I’ve ever dealt with. Hopefully the prazi helps and there are no more loses.
