Can turf algae resurrect from being dead?

I have about 50 pounds of dry rock from a tank I tore down several years ago. I just started cycling a new build and used the old rock. I gave it a mild acid wash and also a chlorine bath before storing it years ago.
After starting the current cycle I noticed some patches of the algae appear to be coming back to life. Is this possible after being dry for so long?

I hope not I took 1/2 my rock out last year left it to dry and peroxided it in prep. for setting up a new tank I just finished the stand and doing a leak test this weekend I had planned to use that rock which did have byropsis. hopefully someone can chime in so I will know if I can use that rock. you have me worried cause I hadn't thought it would have come back after all that time. :scared:

I've used rock that was infested with cyano and once it was dead it was dead for good I don't think there are any issues I did a hot freshwater rinse in the bathtub for good measure
6 months in the new tank and no troubles

By the way this may sound kind of basic but is your tank near a window (sunlight) ?
What type and how long are you running the lights?
If your still in the cycle period now is the time to kill the lights for 3 days
A lot of time that will kill any algae

No way its coming back to life. And hopefully the patches are Diatoms only.
