Just tested my 120, alk was at 8.2 and calcium was 400. Calcium seems low, can I just add calcium? (Hanna checkers were used)

I have some ESV two parts that I have mixed with rodi water and it’s been sitting in room temp for over year. Still good?

based on BRS calculator if I want to up my cal to 420, I need to dose 245ml daily?

I don’t know if the BRS calculator applies to ESV. I used this one for ESV http://reef.diesyst.com/chemcalc/chemcalc.html

I’ve also definitely dosed just calcium before to not I’ll effect. I tend to do these “corrections” in split dosages over a day or two as well.

if it says you need X ml for your target that’s a one time “correction”. to figure out the daily dose just don’t dose for a couple days and test every day at the same time (ex 8pm for 3 days straight) to see how much is consumed on a daily basis. Then that ends up being your daily dose

I would only dose the calcium part of any 2 part. 8.2 is not bad for alk.
For starters I would add 1/2 of whats recommended. Then test . This may not be neeeded on a daily basis. Wait a day then test again. Wait another day and test again.

Thanks guy, according to the calculator, I need to dose 145ml. I will just do 15ml daily to start since I dose 3 teaspoon in the 5g bucket ato.

You can add CA if you want to bring it up without adding ALK. I do notice my CA dropping slightly every 6 months so just add extra calcium to bring it up. I've never been a fan of reefers who dose different Alk and CA to their tanks as CA Test kits are not that accurate for such change. I've gone a 6 months without testing CA and it rarely drops below 400 aslong as I test my ALK every few days

So, based on the calculator I have used above, I need to add about 142ml of calcium to bring it up from 400 -420.

I played safe and started dosing the ESV calcium only 20ml per day for 3-4 days. I stopped yesterday and tested today before water change, it was 513!!!!! Have I done something wrong? Can’t imagine if I added the recommended dose what the heck.

so, my alk was tested at 8.2 dkh. Let say if my cal tomorrow is at 510 and alk is at around 8.5, do I then need to up the alk or just let it ride?
