:sad::sad::sad:

If its affected you I am sure you feel the same way. Sad thing is I bet in someway or another it has affected everyone on this forum...

I won't give the long story but I almost died in 2010 from it!! Divine Intervention saved me and a lot of Prayer keeps it at bay these days!!

Yes, Cancer totally sucks, I'm so sorry for whatever way you are being affected by it now.

In 2011 my father in law, best friend's father and his wife's father all died of cancer within one month of each other. It was the hardest time of our lives.

Somehow through it all I think strength can be found tho...keep your head up man!

This is awesome to hear, keep healthy and keep reefing my friend!

T.W that's awesome. Congrats and with you well in the future.

Pkunk, wow that is terrible. Can't even imagine that. Have lost a lot of friends over the last few yrs to it also. Non very old either.

Have been dealing with cancer 5 yrs with my mother. Her days on earth are running out. 66 is way to young..

I agree. Cancer has been one of the worst experiences in my life.

Recently, my boyfriend was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. This was actually a big relief to know that it was not as bad as we thought it might be. This is the second time within the past 5 months this cancer has reappeared. The first time, it had just developed into stage III and surgery was immediately done, along with chemotherapy drip for about 6 weeks. Sean, my boyfriend, is only 37 years old. Colon cancer is extremely rare in someone his age.

Since it was caught so early, they wanted to use a medication called Xoleda, which is basically chemotherapy in pill-form. The side effects are not as immediate and far less severe. The only thing he really complains about now is nausea and very very bad head-aches... there has been slight hair loss.

He is having another scan done today to see if the medicine is doing it's job. We are not a very religious family, but at this point, any prayers or thoughts would be appreciated!

Brooks & Sean

I rage with the thought of Cancer. My mother was taken from me because of a Stage 4 Brain Cancer. I lost her 9 day after her 56th B day.

I am a Medical Oncologist and researcher. Indeed Cancer Does Suck!! Thats why I look to my aquarium hobby for joy and fun... I appreciate all of the help I have recieved on this fabulous forum

Sorry to hear this Stan... Brooksreef, good luck with you guys. Hope it shows its in remission.. Joann, sorry to hear that as well.. Zeochance, thank you for what you do and hopefully better treatments and cures are on the horizon. It will be to late for my mother and many of us here, but hopefully our kids will not have to worry about the dreaded C word....

One of my best friend's mom has brest cancer, and it's the saddest thing to see. Cancer sucks!!!!

my dad (who is a ret. us navy and served 22 years, best dad ever) was diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer(metastasize) in 2008,went to major surgery and took part of the colon and half of his liver out...he is undergoing chemo on and off..thank God he is fighting and is going strong about it...sometimes he tells us that he is getting tired of the chemo and the doctors gives him a break...he is still outgoing and all of us feels like he is not sick...we all just dont think about it and just being positive....he is 71..he cooks us food whenever he feels like...i guess we can say its a miracle...but he prays a lot...prayer and faith do help...

I have never lost anybody to cancer nor had any close contact with somebody who has had to go through it, however I think it is really awesome to see fellow reefers offer words of encouragement. Just goes to show this isn't just a hobby forum it is really a family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all... Love all of you reefers!!

hopefully better treatments and cures are on the horizon.

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but I think people should know about a possible cure that seems to have faded since the inventor passed away. John Kanzius. Research his name and his work and you'll see a possible cure is very very close. I bring this up because I feel if more people hear about his research maybe it will some day be a reality. He was from Erie, Pa as am I so I heard a lot about his work as it was coming along. The problem was he himself had cancer and passed before he could see his own cure work. I am no way associated with this at all. I just want to see this horrible disease defeated once and for all. My ex girlfriends mother died from cancer and it was a terrible time. I wish everybody had heard of Kanzius' research so it could have been pushed to the forefront. If this is upsetting or offensive to anyone, please remove my post. That was not my intent.

Lost my dad to lung cancer Dec 31, 2008. He was diagnosed just before Thanksgiving and ate him away over the next 5 weeks. The only thing I am thankful for is that it was quick. If I had to endure watching it for months/years like others have had to, I am not sure how I would have handled it.

Yes it's devastating to watch it progress over yrs. then when you think you may have it beat BAM it shows its ugly face and is only stronger. Had many people out to see my mom last night as she's getting much worse every day. She told us she was sorry for getting sick and that tore us all apart. She has nothing to be sorry for. She is the strongest person I have known. She told us to take care of all her grand babies 16 in all. She also said she was tired and in pain and was ready to go. It's heart wrenching. Just getting ready to head back out to my parents house as I have a project I have been working on for them and we are getting close to being done. I will post a pic later tonight of what I wanted to do for them for Xmas gift..

Has anyone seen the Dr. Burzynski movie on netflix?
It may be posted on the web. Search foe the cancer movie Dr. Burzynski

I feel everyones pain, yes cancer sucks!

I watched my mother pass from cancer, my father pass from cancer, and now my wife has stage 4 colon cancer and is getting worse everyday she has been on treatment for 14 months, none of the treatments are working and I'm not sure how much more her weakened body can take. It's been heart wrenching watching this terrible disease wreck havoc on her body.

Here is what we have been working on. It's my mom and dads hand prints in pink and then each one of our families has a different color for the parents and all there kids. 2 more yellows to go.. My sister and brother In law were reallllly busy. Thought it would be something for my dad to rem her by and have her hand print forever..
