I'm so sorry for everyone's losses. Jeff, your parents will appreciate that so much. I don't have the words man but your family will be in my thoughts. Hang in there buddy and be there for your dad as much as you can. It's always amazing how even in the worst times something relating to the children in our lives can always bring happiness. Children are really what happiness is all about.

Wow sad to hear yalls story, You'll are very strong people and I keep you guys in my prayers!Hopefully one day they can come up with a cancer killer.

I have been living this cancer hell for about five years now. I lost my grandpa and uncle to cancer. My father so far has beat prostate cancer and my wife has beat kidney cancer. Unfortunately for my wife it has destroyed her immune system and is back in the hospital again. It was suppose to be a quick in and out and four days later we still do not know when she will come home. They did remove polyps in her stomach( my uncle died from this) and odds are she will have to get a feeding tube as she no longer digests food. I have been watching her waste away for awhile now and it s painful for sure. We have hope but sometimes I wonder how much more she can take.

Add this to all the legal drama we have endured with the crime committed against my daughter in october and all the legal and financial issues that have stemmed from it all I can do is watch my life and everything we built up get destroyed. I pretty much believe that by the end of the year we will lose our house, my retirement account and everything I have worked for in my life because of the negligence of a government agency I entrusted with my daughter. The stress from it is what is really killing my wife.

But know out there there are people that care and sympathize with you. I would trade every bit of the material things in my life to have a healthy wife and a special needs daughter that didn't have to live through a horrific event only to be attacked by the very people we entrusted to protect her. I have endured many tiers over the last couple of years and reading threads like this make me cry every time I read them.

All you can do is be there for them. Make them as comfortable as possible and let them know that they will always be in their hearts and memories.

After a 5 yr battle my mom has went to be with her parents. RIP mom we all love you dearly..

I'm sorry Jeff, she's happy now and you'll see her again. Moms are the greatest! Please PM me if you ever need
Someone to talk to. You and your family are in my thoughts man, hang in there.

My 32 year old wife was diagnosed with acute leukemia on Dec. 14th 2012. She has been going through extensive chemo for 5 weeks now. It is the hardest thing I have ever had to go through and trying to explain what is wrong with mom to my 4 and 7 year old boys is the hardest thing in the world to do.

My wife is 32 and we have a 3 and six year old. It's gotta be so hard, I'm sorry you have to go through that. I think
It's amazing how strong people can be. Hang in there, I'm sure she will be just fine. Your family is in my thoughts, be strong for her, she needs it more than ever.

Thank you. I have been amazed at how strong she has been through this. We are doing our best to try and get through these hard times.

The only thing more amazing than our children is their mothers, they are the strongest on this planet. Trust in their strength, she'll be great man.

Kracer, wishing your family all the best. Your wife will beat this. Family is all we really have...

I'm sorry to hear about everyone's loss. My wife was diagnosed last November with breast cancer. After surgery and treatment she's cancer free now. However, I just found out in January this year that my mom has stage 4 non small cell lung cancer. We just started her treatment this week.

Naka

It's seem cancer will touch everyone out there, wether its you, a close loved one, or even just someone you know. I've lost two loved ones in the last couple years, one to lung and another to breast.

I just found this thread and fully understand what everyone is talking about I lost my wife to Cancer 5 years ago. I want to share with everyone what my local Reef Club has done to help out the Cancer Patients in our community and in sharing this story hopefully some other local clubs will follow and do the same.

To show how this project began here is a copy of the very first post that led to what we call the Cancer Support Aquarium.
Over the last four years I have notice several members in this Hobby who have themselves or a loved one battled or were lost to cancer. It has become something very common even here in our small community of reefers. Although many do not, most here have pulled through and survived the ordeal. Every time I hear of someones illness going into remission I feel so happy for that person. This is where I'm going to get a little personal for a moment I ask you bare with me this is a very emotional subject for me. As some of you may know my wife died of cancer shortly after Aiden was born so I am very familiar with this subject. There are so many horrible things about fighting this disease but there is one I would like to talk about for a moment and that it Chemotherapy. Those of you who have undergone it or had a loved one who went through it know exactly what I am talking about. For most it is the only option to save there lives but to some the treatment is worse than death itself I remember how sick my wife was she lost an eye to infection due to the chemo before she died I believe she endured this not for herself but for me and our children.
Chemo patients sit in a chair for hours usually staring at walls while being infused with poison hoping that while the poison is killing there healthy cells that it will kill the Cancer cells first can you imagine the hell they go through?

I feel this community has grown enough and have enough good people to volunteer there time and donate to this cause. I remember sitting in the Fresno Oncology Center looking at all the people there to get Chemo and thinking how nice it would be to have an aquarium there to enjoy during the long ordeal of treatment that most go through several times a week. Sitting and staring into an aquarium has a very peaceful and calming affect.

I feel we here in this community could donate and make something like this happen I know it does not seem like much but any little thing to help someone get through such a horrible and emotional time would be worth the effort.
The Aquarium has been installed and has almost completed its cycle livestock will go in in a few weeks. Everything for this project was donated by vendors and Manufacturers in the hobby its truly amazing the amount of support we received from the industry there is just way to much to list here you can visit the project thread here Cancer Support Aquarium and see how we put this thing together.
Again I urge anyone here that's in a local club to start a community project like this if possible it is a lot of work but is great for the Club, Community and Patients who benefit from the relaxation it will provide

Kracer I want to wish you all my best and your family will be in my prayers. My wife was diagnosed with Cancer on Dec. 14th also but of 2006. I also had 4 children to care for and help through it while caring for Mommy as well. I am not ashamed to admit that after 5 years I still have not recovered from the trauma of the whole ordeal and truly understand what your going through and I will be praying for your wife a full recovery.

GuyWalker, Sorry to hear of your Wife's passing. I think that is awesome getting that tank in there for the Chemo Patients to look at. I have been one of those sitting in a chair taking my poison, because I am only 40 and my Wife and Kids want me around a bit longer. I have been off chemo and controlling my cancer with natural supplements. Good for now but always a chance of getting bigger. It is like a roller coaster and I am along for the ride. Anyway I remember sitting in my chair feeling that chemo taking hold (yes I could feel it) and thinking here we go 3-4 hours with nothing to do but sit and take this garbage.

How nice it would have been to stare at a beautiful Saltwater tank and just drift away in thought, forgetting if even for a moment, of the dread and misery being pumped into your body. To relax and smile at the beauty within. To imagine the smells and sounds and sights. To look into that tank and be set Free. To be free from that bag of evil, from the evil within, causing so much misery. To be Free, To be Free, To be Free!

I have been there, done that and it would have be great to have had that in my chemo lounge, to escape. Sorry, it is a passionate subject for me and sometimes I have to get it out.

Thanks T.W. it is a good feeling to know it is appreciated and understood by someone who has been through the nightmare. I think it would be a great idea to start a thread here on R2R for local clubs to come and see how this one was done and get guidance on starting a CSA project in there area. Maybe even posting there progress to help get other clubs interested. If anyone in a local club is interested in this kind of project let me know and I will contact the R2R powers that be and see how this kind of thing could be done.
