Hello all, yesterday I purchased a candy cane coral and placed it in my tank on the side of a rock low in the tank. Since it has now puffed up I realize that one head is very close to the surface of another rock (probably 1/2”). Will it instinctively grow up and away/around that jutting piece or should I move it at some point? Attached are some photos showing different angles. Thank you!

They look happy and will grow and split accordingly. I’ve grown colonies to the size of a basketball and the pieces I have left in my tank descended from coral I have had for about 15 years. If they are puffed up and inflated they will likely grow.

It looks good there to be honest and when it grows (when mine grows at least) they branch off in the direction the heads are already facing. For expample, I would predict that your candy cane would branch one head upwards (towards the light) and the other head could branch facing the sand bed.

Remember I am basing this off my candy canes growth but I am just trying to give you a small understanding of branches
