Candy cane

So I just watched my candy cane coral look like it inhaled and then exhaled something that looked Brown or black in color. It almost looked like fish waste. Is this kind of thing normal?

It could've been releasing zoox or expelling waste, common with LPS corals.

I do but not to often. I think it has been 3 days since I last did.

Sometimes caulastraea, like other LPS, will expell zooxanthellae when conditions are off. What's your water pramameters?
