Canister filter for cleaning recommendations.

33 gallon Red Sea. Need a canister filter for monthly cleaning of rock and sand. In the past I used a Diatom Filter, but don’t have one anymore and the company is gone. Who uses a decent canister filter for periodic cleaning and what brand is decent, small, easy to clean, and inexpensive?

Hi, how do you clean rocks and sand with a canister or diatom filter? honestly curious, I can't picture it

Personally I use a turkey baster and blast rocks and sand, I've used a cheap powerhead sometimes but its harder to control.

Blast rock with return from filter, like powerhead. Use gravel cleaner tube, 1.5 inch tube, at end of intake to filter to clean gravel. Been doing this for decades, very effective and effective imo. Also good for cleaning various nuisance algae.

I am really bummed out -That Innerspace has gone out of Biz I still own a few of the XL models and one small one However ALL of them leak I wish I could wrap my mind around WHY the InnerSpace company Never Got started back up producing the Best polishing filter that I have ever used - Perhaps out in the world of Fish Keeping we may someday find A company or just a handyman That will make this happen I have several Ideas how IT can be made to work & I think I may have a design of my own ( I bet a lot of money can be made) I in fact saw a man on Youtube that made a system out of Plexiglass & a pump that worked _ I really want to BREED Discus again

Yes, got my first Diatom in 82’ used it full time on a FO system. Was surprised when I recently searched for a new one and found “no mas”. Most current canister filters look like junk, unless I spend big $.

Got this on Amazon. Does the job and easy to clean. Vacuumed the sand during a recent WC and cleaned up some Cyano.
