So I'm looking to put build a canopy for my 240g 7' x 2' are the length and width of the tank. I would like to put 2 flip up doors on the front. So I was wondering what height should the canopy be? Also wondering if I should enclose the back. And should the top be enclosed? Another question is Should I foil or mirror the inside for reflecting the light?

Nice, DIY is usually required for this size tank.
I would like to put 2 flip up doors on the front.
Also a good idea.

There's where we come to an important question, Light.
What lighting are you going to be using.
Also wondering if I should enclose the back.
As lighting will dictate...
And should the top be enclosed?
The heat dispersion techniques used...
Another question is Should I foil or mirror the inside for reflecting the light?
And the need for reflectivity...

lighting currently is 6 Kessil a360we and t5's. And the reason I was thinking about foil or mirror would be for more downward lighting. If I enclosed the top I was thinking of a vent fan on the end for heat removal.

I made my own hood and light. The hood floats above my tank mounted to the wall. I made it fully enclosed and had to add three computer fans to the top to keep the led's from overheating.

If I did it again, I would have left some or all of the top open and not had to mess with the fans.

Amazing build! Are those cabinet facades wood or pre-manufactured?

Do you know where you can buy large sheets of reflectors? I'm planning to to the same but I cant find flat sheet reflectors. Looking for 7ft x 2ft. I have looked at plastic mirrors but they are heavy. Looked at mirror film sheets but they need to be attached to hard flat surface. Went to home depot/lowes for aluminum sheets but they are matte and not glossy.

I don't have an answer as to where to get reflective material or what to use. Hoping someone here can help.

Do you have more information on the brackets you used?

I'm not sure if that question is for me or not, but I made a thread about my hood a while back.

Some reflectors I saw were Acrylic too.
