Hey ya'll.

So what the heck is this. Sorry my phone sucks. So pictures suck.

I thought it was an aiptasia. But I don't think it is.. I tried to pump it full of aiptasia x but the minute I'm about 2 inches away from this critter, it sucks right into the sand! Yikes!

It doesn't move either. It just sits there in the sand and keeps growing bigger and bigger.. but still small.

Any ideas? How should I rid of this lil sucker?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm haven't tried that. I should do that tomorrow when I do my water change!!

Any more ideas fellas? What the heck is this? I've never seen a hitchhiker like this in all my 15 years of reefing.

It must have came on the Aussie rock I got.

Mine never got big enough to eat any fish, and it didn't get close enough to the rocks to sting any corals but I imagine it was capable of it. Honestly if I found one I'd buy it again, because I liked it that much. But I may have just been lucky.

They usually came in brown with dark or light stripes. I'm sure the wholesaler made a fortune as they probably walked the local beaches and just scooped em up at low tide but I could b wrong. Lol.
I knew the Coldwater guys out of Oregon when they were selling and I had the privilege of actually meeting them 1 day on a low tide collection day.
It was a really kool exp.

Lol I guess this is a Aussie variant lol!

I can't imagine this coming on caribsea sand.
I got the live sand (Fiji pink) . Never heard of a hitchhiker coming on sand...

I have nothing in my tank so it could have only came on the Aussie rock.

Well .. since nobody can ID this anemone for sure...
I'm going to call it : Australian Sarlacc Pit Anemone.

I scooped it up last night when I did the water change. I even dug pretty deep to catch these guys. And guess what?

They're still here. Complete failure.

Think I should wait until it grows bigger and then nab it? Or should I try to apitasia x it again? But... It may just retract again before the poison lands on it.
