Hey everyone I got a small captive bred yellow tang I believe they’re biota from a petco next to my house…… I know Petco sucks but they had 15 percent off and I had line 50 dollars in rewards from there so I ended up getting the fish for super cheap. I’ve had him for 2-3 weeks now making sure he’s eating and to get him a little bigger. What’s the best treatment plan for those tiny captive bred yellow tangs? I wouldn’t have been as concerned if it came straight from biota but since it was in a PETCO tank I’d rather be safe. I have 2 tangs also one is a purple tang that just finished QT but he’s in the sump for now until the yellow tang and massive koi scopes tang get out of QT so there’s little fighting. Size is as follows scopes is 5-6 inches, purple is like 3 inches and yellow probably an inch and a half to 2 inches (not as sea through as when I first got him)

If it’s in Qt what sort of treatment are you thinking it needs. It’s not showing any signs of being ill

Petco has a shared filter system, and I highly recommend quarantining. Additionally, the fighting should subside but keep an eye on yellow for any tail slashing or damage. A tank divider would help avoid this.
Feed flakes, LRS fish frenzy, Spirulina brine shrimp, small planktons as part of diet

Exactly I don’t trust their system so that’s why I’d like to QT the fish. Should I go ahead and do I do a full on treatment of copper power? Like normal? 30 days 2.5PPM or something else? I have chloroquine phosphate as well.

30 days yes but at 2.25ppm and monitor ammonia level with reliable test kit

Additionally, these tiny tangs in my experience can be more touchy than others. I do have one question - did you buy the fish from a tank that had invertebrates, if so it means there couldn't be copper or hyposalinity - which means QT Iess likely to be needed However - that was only for commenting purposes - I would definitely follow the protocol above

In addition to giving the fish a normal quarantine as mentioned because it was apparently housed with the store’s other fish, I see two other issues with these Biota tangs; bloating from gut impaction and getting beat up by other fish because they are so small.
I would avoid feeding it dried algae at first, and give it multiple small feedings throughout the day.
For the size issue, you may need a tank divider for some time until it gets some size to it.

Do copper easier on the fish. The dose for CP hard to get correctly. I to have it. But have yet to use it. With more fish getting through my QT’s I rather keep on doing Copper power.

One other option Jay is The spectrum wafers. Mine love it! And I’ll add extra nutrients. Selcon or vitachem. And when they do get in scuffles and ruffle som fins or scales they heal up so fast!
