Can someone explain the significance of the ash content of carbon? I believe lower is better?

My guess is that the more ash the less porous the carbon?

Ash usually refers to the amount of material left after incineration of a sample and reflects the inorganic content of the sample.

Possibly because higher ash content means higher phosphate content

Oh right read higher ash as po4…I slipped up then my carbon I have on its way is up to 6% ash.

I am not sure that it’s a given that higher ash is higher PO4, but is something to consider if you use large amounts of GAC, otherwise, it might be a non-issue
