Me and my wife are looking to get a cat. I grew up with dogs my whole life but I feel bad leaving a dog alone for 9 hours a day. Looking at getting a Russian blue as they are somewhat hypoallergenic. Anybody have experience with this breed or currently have one and where there are good breeders

Very soft, very sweet. I worked in a feline specialty clinic for years & next to the Sphynx, Russian Blues were my favorite.

OH & I cannot forget the Scottish Fold— very similar round face that makes the Russian Blue so adorable.

Im the same with a dog. Wont get one till I retire. Have 3 cats. Please consider a rescue cat. There are so many that need homes. We have 3 and they are all great cats.

I have a fish on the kitchen counter. When my cat gets up there, he has never once even taken a look at the fish;Hilarious. He’s too busy drinking water out of the glass I leave up there for him. Another option is to find a stray. Some family members have had two strays show up on there porch. One climbed in a truck bed and jumped out in the road, but the other now lives inside. They were both very sweet though.

We have a black cat named Max. He was a rescue from a shelter. He's the most loving animal aside from our two Boxers. He head butts us all the time and sleeps next to my wife every night. Never has caused a problem for us. Black cats have a stigma with people which is so wrong.

I had a Russian blue back in the nineties and he was a amazing animal, but I agree there is so many cats in shelters that need loving homes. Flipper approves.

I’m just going to put this out there: cats don’t like being left alone for 9 hours a day either. I’m not sure where this idea that cats are antisocial comes from. Aloof, maybe, but definitely not antisocial. Even if it’s just to be nearby and stare at you, they like you around.

I agree. I have countless photos of my cat being more social than any dog if you don’t believe that this is true.

Cats do just fine by themselves. They are able to entertain themselves and very content to be by themselves.
A few cheap toys, and food. A litter box and they are fine.

True! And 2 cats are better than one. They are not pack animals like dogs unless you have lions for pets. Not recommended. In the wild most cats live and hunt alone until its time to breed.

Never had much success with kittens. For what ever reason they keep turning into big kitties.
