Procrastinated Saturday morning maintenance, made fish food instead.
Sounds like a meme title.

Trial recipe:
Lobster roe, ROE, nori, scallops, clams, mussels, cod, shrimp, mysis, krill, broccoli tops, squid, Cobia scraps and dusted with beta glucan.

Washed, dried, chopped to 1” pieces, squeezed out excess liquids, blender to various sized bites, vacuum packed 5 bags.

I rinsed mixing bowls with rodi to get out the leftover bits and dumped in the 150 in hopes the gang like it. They did and the bits are perfect sizes. WooHoo

Yesterday was a long one.
Gaston arrived at 1:30 and single handedly moved a 500 pound tank and 250 pound stand/sump up 7 steps and into position. Amazing work with pvc, wood ramp, levers, blocks, portable scissor lift, much sweat and a lot of preplanning. He said good bye to his beautiful craftsmanship at 7:30 pm.

Here you see existing 150 and new 280. Let’s see how much plumbing can get accomplished today!

I wish you had a video of Gaston moving that sucker. That’s an amazing feat to do it singlehandedly. I mean how much easier would it be even to have a second set of hands?

It’s also a really special thing when the tank builder delivers a tank himself, and sees his work in the customer’s home. I imagine it would really connect the builder with his work, as opposed to a builder that just ships his tank to the destination.

It looks amazing. Congrats!

Thanks Gablami, seeing how Gaston moved that tank was a sight to behold. We were not allowed to help at all, even the helper he brought was not allowed to help. :D
Yeah, Gaston is a perfectionist and puts so much into each tank that he has a hard time leaving his work after it is placed.
I hope he can come back to visit it once it is full and looking spectacular. I got to step up my game for sure!

We’ve been hashing over various ideas on how to hang the light canopy for months and finally committed to a wall mount tv lift. It was a long term investment that so far looks like a good choice.

Also ordered a faux coral stone to wrap the stand and canopy.

meanwhile, the 150 is on the verge of disaster...:(
I removed skimmer, uv and DOS (phos and nitrate dosing). Battling hair algae, cyano, Dino’s taking over my Once prolific fuge and my once stable Alk is swinging horribly! Ugh.
Many sps have browned, some receding from bases, some showing bare spots...ahhhh.

Waking up with some caffeine in front of the new tank. There is much to think about and a lot of work ahead.

The light canopy will be attached to the tv wall mount today, because the tank is going to be moving away from wall, have to wait on sump wires/cord management until canopy is finished.

We were going to make feeding doors in canopy, but changed the molding to a large crown, so a door is out. Plan B: a large (automotive style) black funnel secured on top of canopy. You know where I’m going. Haha. Pretty happy with this idea, now to find the perfect funnel x2.

While thinking about feeding this beast, check out what’s going to hold the AFS between the hydra52s secured to canopy.

Extra parts that came with the aquatic life hybrid...

To be continued tomorrow...:D
That is too cool. If I had that, I’m not sure how much time I’d have for the tank!

Have you ever tested that water? What’s the SG, calcium and alkalinity? Just curious.

Thanks Gablami.
When I started reefing used to use 100% Gulf water, was fine for softies and Lps. When I moved into sps, began making water/dosing.

My goal here is live saltwater, live sand, live rock from KP and me = faster cycle. Then I’ll be making water (blue bucket), dosing and occasionally infuse with live Gulf of Mexico water.

parameters of water from last night:
1.026
Alk 6.9
Cal 390

Arrived home and began pumping the remaining 140 + gal up from boat and into tank.

When water began falling into overflow compartment....

Its got to be bulkheads need tightening. O-ring on correct side and all surfaces were wiped clean of debris. Channel lock or a strap wrench should get it done.

My hubby loves boating so any excuse to go and he’s all in. It’s a 35’ motor catamaran: a Fountaine Pajot that’s good looking, comfortable in waves, sips gas, great for family overnights or taking a couple friends to the beach. 30 gal Brute bins fit perfectly in the bow and its generator runs the submersible Home Depot pump.

Gablami, your welcome to join us for water collecting next time your visiting sw FL.

Good, glad it’s just loose bulkheads. Should be an easy fix then.

Thank you for the very kind offer. My young kids would love that if we ever travel again. I wish I had something to reciprocate with. If you and your family are ever visiting the California Bay Area, you’re welcome to ride on the back of my bike. We have a Burley!

...somehow not as exciting ;Joyful.

After much struggling the 280 is running on 1 pump and no leaks.
5FBEEBEA-02E2-4B67-B4AF-39094F77AF21.jpeg

Time to add 2nd return pump:
Disassembled original cor20 (from 150gal) and cleaned much sludge out, reassembled, installed and boom...error code.
It starts to ramp up and stops, starts to ramp and stops. I disassembled again and reassembled. Same problem.
