I’ve never seen a thread about a dog helping someone get their tank cycle started.it will, I am a dog person to. but the other half has to have a cat and she 's a vet. you would think i won the dog jack pot but noooo.
I am not sure that this is a big deal. Definitely rewash the sand but bleaching might be unnecessary unless you are going to lose sleep worrying about it.the long and short of it.
I washed out some special grad sand for the new build. look way longer then i thought to get the tank in the house.
cat pooped in the tub of clean sand that I had in the basement fish room...
so after scooping do you all think a good washing then a soak in bleach for a few hours then a day or two to dry out in the sun would do the trick?
If the op does decide to wash and bleach the sand then I hope he or she is going to let that sand dry completely or they're going to be in a world of hurt.I am not sure that this is a big deal. The OP can test the rinse water after treating with bleach (chorine). Also using a dechlorinator in the rinse water can speed up the process of removing the bleach. If the op does decide to wash and bleach the sand then I hope he or she is going to let that sand dry completely or they're going to be in a world of hurt.
