Catching & containing a cleaner shrimp

I'm selling my cleaner shrimp soon, but it's faster than greased lightning. Any tips on catching it? And will I be able to stick it in an acclimation box to contain it for a day until pickup? Thanks!

Have you tried an inverted bottle trap? All of my peppermint shrimp would go in when I was trying to trap a fish.

PS I baited with a piece of frozen shrimp. I guess shrimp are cannibals lol

I agree with exnisstech's trap idea, should work just fine, I've also had luck with just putting mysis in the net and waiting for one to climb in but mine are on the more mellow side

His antenna span has got to be close to 6" and the bottle trap I have is a standard 20oz side bottle. Will he fit through that tiny opening? Or should I go buy a bottle of gatorade? Thanks!

Ah, so the tiny opening on a 20oz bottle shouldn't be an issue then! :D Will keeping him in an acclimation box for a day or so be a problem? I shouldn't think so, but it's not something I've ever had to consider.

If acclimation box allows tank water to flow thru and you have a top to prevent carpet surfing, then the answer is NO PROBLEM.

I it the opening off to make a bigger hole. It will be fine in an acclimation box, I usually add a piece of rock to give it something to hang out on.
