Caught a fireworm!

I’m just really excited and wanted to share, my mom caught this fireworm this morning!! Over the past several weeks we’ve been going bristle worm hunting after one of the worms stung my fish. Each time I feed the tank we can usually manage to catch a couple in the display or the sump some have been easily four or five inches long even when not fully stretched out but today we got this one! All we use is a pair of tweezers so we miss them almost as often as we catch them which makes this an even bigger win to me. Into the septic tank it goes!

Wow that's a huge one...good catch. Sound like u have quite a lot in your tank.hope u get them all out soon.

Bristleworms are actually good scavengers and keep your rock clean. Typically they self limit population based on available food. I wouldn't remove them all.

I do have a lot yeah, I'm hoping to at least get out the really bit ones and the fire worms because I do know there's at least one other.

I know that they'll keep their numbers in check I just have too many and a personal vendetta, and I have a number of other scavengers as well. I had no problem with having a few that showed their ugly little heads at feeding time before, however a fairly large bristle worm lives in the rock that my neon goby likes to hide in. A bristle worm stung my neon goby and the fish was quite uncomfortable for several days before the bristles came out. Before they hurt my fish I allowed them to live in peace, now...

Way to go Mom! Now go get yourself a 6 line wrasse and watch the bristleworm population disappear. Mine devoured the bristleworm population in my tank. There's a few but not the "horror movie" version when lights out.
