ok so after 2 days of taking out GFO and Carbon here is the different on my Chaeto Reactor

My cheato started doing this a few days ago. Light to close?

Mine did the same thing when I switched to the led grow light that was too close

I removed the dieing white part. It might be to close or just to powerful.

I'm not an expert but I have a AIO and my light is right on the glass and it not turning white

Mine turns white on top like that from the light burning it. I just harvest the white portion when I see it

I'm assuming its because in your case its under water and doesn't get as hot and in our cases where it turns white its on the top where its floating exposed to air

Seems like the whiteness was lower into the water. I’ll try moving the light and someone said turning on there gfo caused it as well, I also just turned on my gfo but I don’t think that really could be it lol

It turned into 1000’s pieces. Almost like mush....

I took it all out because it’s just decaying. I moved the light farther out that did not help. I don’t understand.

Maybe not enough nitrates ? My prams are perfect

Neo jeo did you ever find out why your cheato was dying off

I think my tank was to new. I had nothing for it to eat.

then I got grape calerpa and that went A sexual. It made my nitrates spike up in the 30s.

now I have cheto again and it’s doing ok
