I always hear chay-toe, but the former Latin student in me wants to say kay-toe. And the speaker of American English just wants to say kee-toe. I feel like an outlier!

I've always pronounced it kay toe

If you have a science background, there is only one way to pronounce it. Since there are people that don't talk Texan English (the only correct way to talk English! hah!), then it can be pronounced a hundred different ways.
