My main tank has been running for a while, frags are all doing well (not growing fast enough), and I don't usually chase numbers. But I have a simple question...

My nitrates & phosphates both test at 0, I feed pretty heavily & I have quite a few fish.... and my chaeto grows like crazy. I'd like my nitrate & phosphate levels to rise some, I think I would have better growth & color. So should I remove my chaeto? I mean it does suck up a ton of both, right?

What's your light schedule and what kind of lighting?

Personally I don't like completely removing a good nutrient reducer like that. I'd try to remove some then manipulate my lighting

What type of test kits are you using to test no3, and po4?

If its working too efficient then harvest more chaeto more frequently.

Radions on tank AB+ 9 hrs
Amazon grow light on fuge - runs opposite tank lights
I have Salifert test kits for Nitrate & Hanna for Phosphate

I trim about half a 5 gallon bucket every 4 weeks.

Hanna ULR or the regular one?

You jut might need to harvest more frequently then if its growing too fast. Just try not to over harvest.

ULR

Guess I'll give harvesting more a shot, but seems like it'll just grow faster. Like pruning a bush, it kind of stimulates it to grow. No?

I'm assuming your running a 12 on/12 off. Harvest some then try reducing your schedule to 8 on then see where you stand

I'd start with running fuge light less and harvesting more. You'll be fine. Get some NeoNitro and NeoPhos if you are worried about being at 0
