I picked up a fire and ice chalice from the reef shack at the swap. I've noticed one side losing tissue and the other side is growing just fine. What could cause one side to recede and the other side to do great?

Check in the general area around the bad side to see if any other coral might have stung it. All it take sometimes is a passing touch

I've noticed it slowly receding over time. Something may have touched it at some point but its a good ways from anything now. I think I may have had it under to much light at some point so now I keep it in some shade.
