Chasing ORP

I know many people run Ozone for just an hour or two a day. I assume those people are not as especially interested in keeping ORP at a specific set point? I've noticed since I did start running Ozone just a few days ago that my ORP drops by about 100 points when the Ozone is off. So why not just keep it running? But then last night I came home from work and smelled Ozone in the apartment. I do have a bag of carbon on my Octo Regal 200 INT lid. But then I realized there's an open nozzle there too, which is probably where the Ozone is escaping. (Gotta figure out a way to seal that off.) So, are people chasing ORP numbers (chasing numbers is a practice we discourage!) or just let it drop when Ozone is off?

ORP is a general indication, specific values off the probe are about as meaningless as it gets in this hobby. It’s more about trends

Comparing your ORP to someone else's is useless. So many things affect it—your pH, temperature, what kind of rock you have, even electrical equipment near your tank.

Think of it this way: If you and a friend checked your heart rates, would you panic if yours was 70 and theirs was 65? Of course not. But if your heart rate suddenly spiked to 120 while you were sitting on the couch, that would be a problem.

ORP works the same way. Don't worry about the specific number. Instead, watch the trend. A sudden, sharp drop in ORP is your tank's way of raising a red flag, telling you something might be wrong (like a dead fish or a skipped water change). A stable, predictable daily rhythm is a sign of a healthy, happy tank.

I run ozone through my 9430dc skimmer. I run 24/7. Orp hangs around 400. I run setting 3 on my ozone generator. If I go to 4 I.can smell ozone.
Works well and no real need to shut it off just run less ozone.
24/7 for 2.4 years now.
I started with an ozone reactor for a year but prefer the skimmer method.
Current system for reference.

How do you like the skimmer? I have a 10yo reef octo I've been thinking of replacing on my 330g. I added a 9410 DC to my mp100 and it does very well and doesn't require a lot of fiddling like the octo does. The 9410 started pulling dark skimmate immediately and didn't need a break in like previous skimmers that i usually let overflow for a week or two before trying to tune them.

I love the 9430dc skimmer, I have 3. Killed one pump by dosing kalk on top of the pump. I know better, lol. $400 for a new pump.
I run a 9430dc on my 112.
On the 150 I run the ozone on the 9430 which is in the return section.
I run a 28" LifeReef in the first section so 2 skimmers.
If I ever buy another skimmer it would be a LifeReef. Use any pump.
The 9430 pulls dark skim, the LR pulls heavy dark sludge.
2 9430's and the LR were bought used.
Both skimmers need very little maintenance.
I ran 2 9430's before the LR.
The 9430 that I replaced had not been touched except for cup cleaning in 1.5 years

Look at the LF. They can be run on any pump.
New 9430dc pump is $400. The new 9430dc is an improved version over my old units but costs $1500.
LR runs on a $100 Jebao MDP 8500.
