Cheato Algar Dead or Alive????

Can anyone tell me if my Cheato Algae is alive? When I got him it was plasticly thick now it soft and stringy? Any help is appreciated

It’s still alive but it doesn’t look great. Look into ChaetoGro and make sure you have enough nutrients and are giving it enough light. When chaeto dies it turn white and shrinks significantly. No but you do want flow. So I’d recommend putting it in its own chamber. With a small powerhead for flow and a refugium or plant growth light.
