Ended up chipping the top of the tank is it a goner ? I dont mind asthetic since the way ima set the tank up you wont really see it but if structually its gonna fail id rather not risk , any opinions appreciated. Its like 3 or 4 clam shell chips but the 2 smaller chips are what im not sure of if they are runners or just chipped.

I don’t feel you’d have any issues myself… I’ve seen and owned plenty of tanks with small chips like that myself.. being that it’s a smaller tank also I’d say you’re completely fine and shouldn’t worry.

I wouldn't sweat it. If I was sweating it, I would make a brace for it. Either a steel band around it or a Euro brace. Momentive RTV is amazing silicone. My tank recently sprung a leak. I resealed it but left the joints alone. I shimmed all 4 sides of it from the stand to help the joints out. So far so good.

sorry shoulda mentioned thats the outer glass panel at the top edges, the glass rim is what your seeing behind the chips.
You’ll be fine… my last rimless cube had worse chips.. your tank looks to have a euro brace also which strengthens all that.

heres a photo of it abit further out all the smaller chips are right on the top of the glass only the clamshell chips extend alittle down but with lid and water level i dont think im going to even see the chips since im planning on scrapping the back glass and setting it up sorta peninsular style so the chipped side will be the "back" of where its usually gonna be viewed from.

yea i honestly have no idea how the bottom got chipped i looked over the whole thing after noticing the top chips and didnt see anything but then noticed the bottom when i moved it onto the stand and was scrubbing it down, unfortunately i didnt take any pics before putting in the silicone but the tank was holding water so the inner silicone seal was still intact and holding water before i filled the outside with silicone which is why i wasnt too worried but decided to ask incase. Does it look like it could be a problem ?

little closure to this saga , turns out i wasnt the one to chip the tank. I couldnt let it go and kept replaying in my mind how and when it could have happened so i went back and took a look at the photos of the original sale ad and you can kind of see them. I called the guy and asked was the tank chipped when i bought it and he said yes , it chipped a long time ago and it ran for years without any problems. I was honestly alittle stunned the ad had no mention of chips and when i asked if anything is wrong with the tank he told me no. My brother ended up going to pick up the tank since he was heading that way anyways and its a 2 hr drive from me, i guess he never noticed the chips and the guy just never mentioned them. So yea ..... thats how that went. The guy stopped responding as soon as i asked how could he have not mentioned the chips at any point of the entire week we were speaking.
