Hi All,

I am relatively new to R2R, but have lurked time to time. I have been in the hobby about 7-8 years.

My current tank:
IM nuvo 20gal
Aquatic life 4 bulb T5
MJ900 return
Jebao RW-4

Mixed reef with some SPS, few LPS and softies. My first tank was an IM 8gal back when they were still available. Had that tank for 2 years, then promptly upgraded to the 20 due to lack of space. I live in an apartment, so going big, with moves possible and such just isnt an option at the moment.

I have had alot of ups and downs, small crashes, losses or corals and fish. Some of it was learning, some laziness, and the rest a lack of time with a 3 year old. I have attached some current pictures. They are super blue because of my bulb setup, but I plan on changing it up next month after the holidays (2x blue plus, purple plus, coral plus). Should help with color alot.

Thanks for taking a look, and I will add more as things progress. I will also throw in some picks of the old 8gal.

Thank you! The MJ900 was a nice bump from the stock and built better. First one I had on the 8 and lasted 4 years...this one is about 3 years running. May try an Eheim next as people say the last forever.

I used to have 2 RW-4's but one died on me. The dueling flow was nice, maybe a bit overkill, but one keeps things moving well as long as I keep it clean.

I will post some eye candy of a new of my favorites. The duncanville I still have but down to 4 heads ...up from 2. Lost a ton last bump.

Thank you for the kind words. I love all the pieces I have, my biggest loss was the wellso, my favorite by far. The neon sinularia I probably my favorite now. Here are some before and after pics..about 2 years apart.

Started dosing live phyto a couple weeks ago. I've certainly seen some benefits. Better feeding response in all corals, better polyp extension. I havnt see the jump in pod population yet, but overall it hasnt seemed to hurt anything.

I have a local source for it, and dose 0.5oz per day...20gal tank but only about 14gal total after rocks, sand, etc. I've been told do 1oz per day, but starting slow. Anyone else have success doing live phyto?

Same favia that is in the 20, just a few years of growth.

yes...a clam in an 8 gallon lol. grew like a beast, went to the 20 in the upgrade and eventually had to trade it in. It used to sit right next to my frogspawn...neer once got stung even though the touched on a daily basis.

Thanks! The favia is sweet. The light blue in the mouths looks great, and I havnt notices long sweepers with it over time. Great feeding response with anything thrown it's way. Very slow grower, but also hardy in my opinion.

Do you have a build thread?

I read they're slow growers and hardy. Which to me makes it a good starter coral. I also like their shape and colors.
My build thread https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/nuvo-20.667943/
The are slow growers, you can see the pic of it in my old 8 gal and recent..that's atleast 4 years. Had some ups and downs, but its survived it all.

I will make sure I check out your thread.

Great looking set up. I think the corals look great. I have a nuvo 20 too. Yours is awesome.
I appreciate the kind words! Do you have a build thread?

Some new upgrades comming soon. Plan on upgrading the power head to a RP-M and new T5 bulbs..they are about a year old. Changing it up from 2 actinic and 2 Blue plus to 2 blue blue plus, coral plus and a purple plus. I think the tank is too blue, and adding I the coral plus bulb should help color up the corals and give less of the solid blue look.

Looking good ! Looks like it’s filling out nicely. Time to upgrade! Lol
I wish! I live in apartment right now, so anything bigger at the moment is out of the question.

Dream tank would be a 120 4x2x2 with 40 sump. Hybrid T5/LED lights, Apex with auto water change, etc, but that's someday in the future when I own a house and have more money lol. It's not monstrously large, but I try to be realistic and keep things manageable lol.
