I am about to order a custom tank.
1400mm Long (55") x 700mm (28") Wide x 500mm (20") High = 438 Litres or 116 Gallons.
If I use cider blocks as a stand, would it be possible to place them only on the corners, along with 2 x 4s and a sheet of ply, so I can access the sump underneath the tank?
Thanks,
Josh

2x4s free span at 50”+ will bow and not provide any suppor, ultimately causing a bottom seal failure. Probably need a 2x10 and ensure you have one or two in the center, not just the edges.

Using 2x6's instead of 2x4's should do it for the span you want:

However, instead of using cinder blocks, have you considered building a stand using inexpensive 2x (read "two by" (2x4's, 2x6's, etc.)) lumber, like this:

And from the above post:
"(2) Red - Upper Rails: Length = W
These will be sized according to length: 2X4 for 48" or less for smaller tanks (Rule of thumb is 75g-90g); 2X6 up to 72" with 125g-150g being acceptable; For longer spans and larger tanks 2X8s are recommended."

Good luck!

See my build thread.

I would use 2x6s in for a 116, use cinder blocks on the corners. Create a center brace with cutoffs. Then use treated ply on top to get it level. I would also buy a couple pieces of rigid insulation to rest your cinder blocks on in case your floor isn't level.
