Clam dead overnight?

I just got an ultra-grade maxima clam yesterday, and it acclimated well, opening and everything last night. Then I came down to my tank today, and there was no clam left, just the shell. I didn't have any fish that would eat it that I looked at online. The parameters are good, the nitrate is a little high, but everything else is thriving. The clamshell was moved a couple of inches back and pushed next to the underside of a rock.

My acros are colored up and the polyp extension is long so I know my parameters are in check and good. I don't know what could have happened overnight. No flatworm issues or anything.

what is your acclimation process like? perhaps the nutrients from the previous tank and your tank were too far apart, or one of your fish has a sweet tooth for clams(since you weren't present to verify or not)

Where did you get the clam from? How long did they have it? What clean up crew do you have?

If it died overnight, it could have been on the way out from wherever you got it. Clean crew like cleaner shrimp and hermits can definitely cause issues if they crawl across the mantle and pick at it.

My usual, cup of water every 5 min for 30 minutes. Acclimated the mandarin and a scoly at the same time and they are good. I was doing some research and am thinking it might’ve been my peppermint shrimp

I'm not sure what the health of the clam was when you got it, but that's not a good acclimation procedure for clams, especially if they are shipped. You need to do a drip acclimation to slowly raise the pH and match salinity, this can take a couple hours depending on the differences of the water (in the bag and yours). I never do quick acclimation for inverts, but that's just me. I don't think a single peppermint shrimp would do that much damage and they wouldn't go after a healthy clam, but something that's sick or dying, they would.
