Hi,

I have 2 clam like chips in the center of one of the side panes. Originally this was on the bottom and it was cause by me while taking apart the tank. Was wondering if this is something that compromises the whole pane or is it safe for me to just install the chipped side up and it will be covered by the trim anyways and the water level would be barely touching it.

Also currently potentially looking around to get a new pane cut but haven't heard back from any of the nearby glass shops yet. But would like to hear from someone experienced with glass and find out how bad these chips are.

It's a 210gallon, glass is 1/2inch thick

Placing it chipped-side up would help as it’ll have less pressure and be away from the seam. However, those look to be of decent size and close to each other. At 210 gallons, I wouldn’t take the chance with it.
