Clam open too wide?

I recently moved my derasa clam into a spot of the sand bed with more light 3 days ago and today it is open really widely, is this normal?

Could be acclimating. Is their any new shell growth on the upper margin of the shell? What type of lighting is it under? The mantle us looking a little pale in color

It’s under radion gen 3s, it’s been in the tank for ~8 months I just moved it to higher light because I thought it looked pale too and was in a slightly shaded area

If there is new shell growth there isn’t much

I would let it soak up light and keep an eye for new growth on the shell, the the sure way to know if the clam us healthy and growing. Keep us posted

This morning it looks a little better and last night it did close up so I think that’s a good sign

Good stuff. When the mantle retracts keep an eye for that white shell growth. That's a nice derasa
