I probably haven't used my Brute for close to a year (usually just do 5 gallon water changes). Seems I forgot to completely empty it after it's last use. Recommendations on how to make sure it's squeaky clean to use again?

Muriatic acid diluted about 10 or 20 to one will get rid of most stuff. It will do the job pretty quickly. Acid is not THAT hard to handle but you have to be careful because there is a hazard. Always add acid to water and not vice versa. It is best to work in a very well ventilated space for diluting it (like outside). It is good to have a bucket of water handy in case you spill some on yourself (you can just douse the affected area). Once it is diluted, it is pretty benign. Vinegar is slower but it is also completely safe. Both will work.

I use citric acid, but you'll need a decent amount. The magic erasers are great too, but they break apart really easy so be prepared to fish the pieces out at the end.
