Cleaning Red Sea reefer weir box…?

Morning All Just wondering … tank is 10 months old now. Is the weir box foolproof and ‘self cleaning’, or do you somehow clean the box out? How often? Or do you leave the box to hopefully be full of critters etc? Thanks for the correct reply to this!

I just leave it alone. You may get some sponge growth but that's not a bad thing since they are filter feeders

That sounds like the way to go. Does the flow through the weir box seem to have slowed?
