Cloudy water

Hello all. I have recently come into the problem with cloudy water. I am not sure why, and all my levels are normal. Does anyone have any ideas? I do have copper removing resin in my filter, if that could make a difference?

Yes - looks like a bacteria bloom. Let it be. DON'T DO WATER CHANGES. To speed things up add a UV sterilizer. Create tons of surface ripples, add an air stone, and/or run a skimmer. You NEED to make sure there is plenty of gas exchange because the bacteria will deplete the water of oxygen fairly quick.

Did I do something wrong? I have been doing my normal routine, except 2 large water changes because of copper removal.

It depends. They typically happen when there is an excess of decaying matter in the tank. That could be overfeeding, an algae die off, or something died in your tank and got left there to decompose. So no, I wouldn't say it's your fault unless you purposefully left/added large amounts of decaying matter. I'd say what triggered it was the large water changes , though, so not your fault.

I would get a cheap uv sterilizer or a green killing machine until it goes away. Frequently cleaning the filter will help too.
