Hey everyone!

I started my tank up from scratch after soaking in citric acid, cleaning, rinsing and allowing to air dry.

I bought new rock which I rinsed in RO to get rid of any dust, and also used new Caribsea live sand.

Mixed my own salt using Tropic Marin and my salts reading 1.025 which is what I wanted.

Issue I’ve got is my display is looking a bit cloudy/dirty ish. I didn’t rinse the sand as the bag said not to. Is this from the sand?

I’ve got filter floss, a bag of carbon and some matrix in the sump/chamber.

I’ve noticed the floss has gone yellow fairly quickly!

I’m doing a fishless cycle and have dosed with Dr Tim’s along with ammonia chloride.

Is it just a case of keeping on top of changing the filter floss in hope it dies down and becomes clear?

I’ve noticed the carbon bag has become a tad bit yellow along with some matrix stones?

That's just the fines from the sand, give it a day or so and that should clear up.

Good luck on your reboot!

Most likely just muck from the sand and everything stirred up in the tank.. shouldn’t really be running carbon till it’s cycled! Theres really no point at the current moment.

I might remove the carbon. I read on another thread that it should clear the cloudiness up 🤷‍♂️

Some of the matrix rocks also have a tinge to them now, I so hope it’s not a bad start ***.
